May 2010

AndreaAndrea LeClerq

Andrea  completed the 10k Race for Life at the Norwich show ground on May 1st 2010. She completed the run in 49 minutes 47 seconds and came in at an impressive 11th place.

She made £120 for the charirty - well done and congratulations!
Andrea is hoping to complete 2 half marathons this year and has applied for the London marathon - she puts us all to shame!!

September 2009

Practice Study Day

A study day was organised for all team members at Woodbastwick Brewery. All staff attended the day, lectures on a variety of dental topics, a wide range of subjects were covered including oral ulceration, oral cancer, acre of dental implants, patient interaction, and communication. The day was completed by a tour of the brewery.







August 2009

Laura has passed her Dental Radiography course and is now able to take dental radiographs.

All our dental nurse have recently been to a cross infection course, which will update their knowledge on sterilization and cross contamination.

The practice will hold a study day for all its staff at Woodforde Brewery in Woodbastwick on the 22 September. This will be an excellent opportunity for team building and postgraduate education for all staff at the practice.

November 2008

Our team are constantly updating their dental knowledge and attend numerous courses to help improve their level of patient care:

Dr Hamed Karimi was invited to speak at the AIDC (www.aidc-egypt.org) in October. His lecture was on Antibiotics and Antiseptics in Periodontics, and was very well recieved. Dr Karimi also attended the European Association of Osseointegration conference this year, which was held in Warsaw.  

Laura Bennett RDSA (who qualified with a distinction) is on a dental radiography course, which will enable her to take dental radiographs.

Jeanette Stamp RDSA one of our other nurses who is also a qualified dental radiographer, has recently attended a day course on cross infection control, and another course on an update on dental radiography.

Amy Evans RDSA, OHEd, has gained a diploma in implant co-ordination, from Astra-Tech.

Some of the nurses and practice support staff attended the annual British Dental Nurses conference in Blackpool in October and have returned with interesting information on a wide range of topics, including nutrition, decontamination, dental law, oral cancer and forensic dentistry.

We would like to welcome a new addition to our team:

Heidi Cockram RDSA has joined our practice and will be replacing Sam, who has moved to Portsmouth to be closer to her sister. We wish Sam good luck with her new venture.

Periodontal and Endodontic Dilemmas
Deciding on whether a tooth is saveable or not, is a difficult decision to make. There are a number of factors that need to be taken into consideration, including the prognosis of the tooth, predictability of the treatment suggested and overall benefit to the patient. This lecture will aim to address these issues from an endodontic, and periodontic/implant perspective. Cases will be selected and discussed and the merits of each treatment approach evaluated.

January 2008

We would like to welcome new additions to our team:

Alexandra Efthymiou and Denise Mac Partlin have joined our clinical team. Both Alexandra and Denise will be seeing patients for periodontal referrals.

Alexandra Efthymiou qualified from the University of Aristotle in Greece in 2002. She has a Master of Clinical Dentistry in Periodontology from the Eastman Dental Hospital, University of London. Her work is restricted to Periodontology and Implant Dentistry. She works at Norfolk Dental Specialists on Mondays.

Denise has been working in the field of Periodontology since 1999. She qualified with honours from the University of London, and received her Masters in Periodontology from Guys Hospital, University of London in 1999. She works at Norfolk Dental Specialists on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

We would also like to welcome Sam Hamblin who has joined our nursing team. Sam is a qualified dental nurse and will be assisting the specialists.

New courses have been added:
Implant Prosthodontics: Thursday 22/05/08, Tuesday 24/06/08, Tuesday 22/07/08 (for further information look under the courses section)

November 2007

Dental Specialist Hamed Karimi will be voluteering his time and dental services in February 2008 in the rural communities in Africa.

June 2007

Courses:
Implant Prosthodontics course for this term has now started and is full. If you are interested in attending this course for the autumn term please contact Hamed at the practice.

Staff:
We would like to welcome new additions to our team: Lyn will be working at reception with Jacquie, and Chel has joined our hygiene team. Their profiles and photos can be seen in the Team section of the website.

Dr Alex Baxter, Specialist in Restorative Dentistry, has also joined our clinical team. Alex will be seeing referral patients for Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry. His profile will be added on the the website shortly.
